Mozilla Thunderbird LogoPorting profile from Windows XP to Ubuntu Linux

To get all the data from Windows XP to Ubuntu 8.04 I had to connect my Harddisk via USB to my Ubuntusystem. This way I could read the NTFS filesystem. All data (e-mails, addresses, attachments, plugin data, …) of Mozilla Thunderbird are stored in the profile:

  • I closed Mozilla Thunderbird.
  • After new installation of Mozilla Thunderbird in Ubuntu I have deleted the profile (xxxx.default) in the directory:home/username/.mozilla-thunderbird
  • Afterwords I copied the old profile from the windowssystem:Dokumente und Einstellungen/username/Anwendungsdaten/Thunderbird/Profiles
  • As the profile had a different name, the  profiles.ini had to be modified.

That’s it :-)

If you want to put your data in another folder open profiles.ini:

[Profile0]
Name=default
IsRelative=0
Path=YourDirectory:\YourFolder\2yqhjiwk.default
